Fisher Price Baby Monitors Category:

The Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor with Dual Receivers didn’t fare too well in terms of reviews I’ve come across. Not exactly negative reviews, but some issues that are commonly known to baby monitors have crept up as I read on. I’ll highlight those problems later but to be fair, I’ve also read some satisfactory comments about this unit. Perhaps you should read my summary of this product and decide for yourself!

Fisher-Price Private Connection Monitor with Dual Receivers

Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor with Dual Receivers

Pros:

(1) Choice of 2 receivers: makes it more convenient to monitor
Basically, having 2 monitors is really helpful if you and your partner are always up-and-about at different places but still want to keep an eye on your kid(s) as they play or sleep. There are also up to 10 channels to choose from, which give you the flexibility of choosing the best reception.

(2) Far reach audio range: good for movements around a large house
The audio range of up till 1300-1500 sq. feet is quite good. With other monitors, you’ll probably hear static noises after a certain range. Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor would be a good choice if you have large space to move about.

Cons:

(1) Not so durable
My good friend uses this model and has complained that it stopped working after only 3 weeks. She hasn’t dropped it or anything like that but it just won’t work anymore. She got it replaced free or charge but that bad experience changed her mind about this product.

(2) Poor battery life
Battery life is not very long-lasting. Most importantly, don’t leave the receiver plugged to the charger for long. Remove the receiver once it’s fully charged.

The Fisher-Price Private Connection Monitor is a product that can’t seem to decide where it belongs: the good or bad category. Either way, you now know the pros and cons of this model. If you want to know more, check it out on Amazon. Choose well!

The Bad:

“I had high hopes for this monitor. We’ve been through 3 or 4 of them in the past 5 years. I like the range on this one. However, all I hear is static! We’ve tried everything but all we hear is alot of static and the sound the child makes is very hard to hear. When it’s cranked up as loud as it gets, it’s just loud static and baby crying sounds like a whisper. We’ve tried moving it around to avoid reception problems but no luck… doens’t matter where it is inside or outside the house. I really want to get a second First Years 900 Mhz one but they no longer make the model we have – it was the best” – D. Thomas

The Good:

“I’ve owned 3 baby monitors and hadn’t found one that even came close to the range it advertized. This one DOES! It’s clarity is excellent. It even picks up my office wall clock ticking sound. I haven’t had to replace batteries yet, and I’ve had it for two weeks, and use it 8 hours a day (minus weekends). And the nightlight feature is surprisingly useful. It has four channels but I have yet needed to switch from it’s default channel. I’m able to go 3 houses down the street, and still get great clarity.

I’m a sucker for good design (being an engineer myself), and I only have three minor criticisms. One is that battery installation requires a tool (small screw driver). The second is that the belt clip could be more secure…It’s a tad floppy wearing jeans. This third criticism isn’t a real criticism, but more of a ‘wish’…and that is, “I wish it had headset capability, so I could mow/weedwack/etc and still hear the monitor”. – Brian Batts
